Wal-Mart, Target, other retailers pull bassinets

Six national retailers voluntarily agreed Friday to stop selling bassinets that a federal safety agency has warned parents against using after two babies were trapped and strangled in the product.

The safety commission warned against the use of bassinets made by Simplicity Inc. of Reading. The type of bassinets in question are the Simplicity 3-in-1 and 4-in-1 convertible "close-sleeper" model.

I had my 2nd son in a bassinete... he decided to ROLL OVER (really really early... 3wks old) & I found him stuck, face down, against the corner/edge of the bassinete--- 2x in one night.
That was his last night in there!!
It was CONVENIENT for sure... but not too safe.

That's basically how we felt about them.

We loved our bassinet and both girls slept in it til 6mos old or so. That said, it definitely depends on the quality of the product. The one in question on this recall sounds pretty scary. Thanks for the post and for helping spread the word.
