Well, for all my kvetching about Jodi Picoult, I'm going to give her latest book a shot. I just got the word from the library that it's waiting for me. Let's hope it's not another courtroom drama with a suspiciously pat ending...

She's such a good writer. Let's hope I get a more original story this time.

I just finished, Dawn. I was pleasantly surprised that there was no courtroom drama this time, and I thought the comic book touches added an interesting parallel to the story. Also, the comic book culture worked into the story rang very true. I used to be a big comic book fan in my teens, and Picoult worked these elements into the book seamlessly.

I was less thrilled with the Alaskan culture elements. They felt forced and "researched" as opposed to an organic part of the story. I also found Trixie's ease in getting from Maine to Alaska pretty far-fetched.

Overall, not a bad book. I'd give it a solid 7. What did you think?
