2011 Pages Challenge

  • With the end of the year quickly approaching, we shoudl start thinking about what number of pages each of us will shoot for in 2011. You can make it a readily attainable goal to ensure you keep yourself reading regularly, or you can make it a scary stretch goal if you want to push yourself. Set your goal with a mind to what motivates you - some people hate the pressure of a stretch goal, but others get fired up by pressure.

How to come up with a number? I suggest the following process:
    • Figure out how many books you can comfortably read in a year OR the number of books you want to try to read
    • Estimate the rough average number of pages per book (I would guess my average read has about 350 pages)
    • Multiply number of books by average number of pages to get your goal

I'll put up a Pages Challenge sticky during the last week of December, and I'll remind you to post your goal there when I put it up. Happy calculating!

  • I have a suggestion if you think it will work...combine the 2011 Books Read and 2011 Challenge lists because anybody participating will be posting mostly duplicate info.

  • That's what I was thinking. I was going to keep a spreadsheet offline with everybody's page numbers and then have a thread with an ongoing total for each person.

  • Hmmm I will have to think about it. I was just thinking I was going to count as I went and be amazed at the total, not do a pledge of # of pages. I will think and get back to you! lol

  • You can do that too, Michelle. I thought to make it a Challenge, though, we should have some goal we're working toward.
