Exclamation bookstore closing

Our Borders bookstore is closing! My mom and I popped in there this weekend to see what kind of sales they were having and the place was a madhouse! lol People crack me up thinking something listed as on sale is always a good deal. 25% off the list price is what Borders usually sells things for so it is not that big of a deal but the place was a mess with people pawing thru what was left after the sale going on for 2 weeks. Now I will be curious to see what they sell the neat wooden book shelves they have. Might buy one of those! lol

too bad it's closing though. I hate to see stores not make it. I have a feeling with all the digital readers out though we'll see more of this same thing, sort of like all the movie rental places are gone.

The Barnes & Noble near my house closed last year, which sucks cuz I really liked the lay out and just the feel of the place. There is a Books a Million nearby and they have some good deals sometimes. (love the $1-$5 dollar book racks they role out front, lol)

Speaking of movie rental places, I was just thinking the other day how Blockbuster should have realized what was going on and got into the mail to home market sooner or done their own rent-box things like Redbox. Then yesterday we stopped at a Gate gas station and BAM, there is a Blockbuster box out front, LOL. I didn't go see what the price was or late fee or anything. Dh said he has only seen them in front of the Gate gas stations so far, must have a deal with them.

That sux! I love Borders over B&N and BAM. The prices are better then B&N and the staff are usually better the BAM. Although I've noticed that the one here it's sometimes hard to find someone to help in Children's. Oh and I don't have to pay 10-25 a year to be a rewards member though they have a program like that now too but it is just an additon of the original program not replacing it.

Yep, our Borders has fallen victim to their bankruptcy protection filing, too. I saw the sign and thought I'd wait a few weeks until they're at the bargain basement prices before going in.

And I agree--I wanna see how low they'll go on the furniture-type items.
