I don't think I've intentionally or inadvertantly stolen any books from the library, but I've claimed to have lost a video or two from the rental place before. The one time was when the video wasn't available for sale anymore and we really really wanted it, so we told them we lost it and paid the small fee. The other was a time that I forgot to return a 2 day rental to Blockbuster and didn't realize I still had it until a week later. The overdue fines would have been waaaaaaaaaay more than the cost of the video, so I just told them I'd lost it and paid for the video restock fee which was pretty cheap.
