Default Cr@ppy day (O/T)

My colleagues and I found out this afternoon that we are all losing our positions as of January 1 (actually Christmas break), and 5 were fired outright because they don't have bachelor's degrees. Our funder has decided to move our responsibilites solely to the school board. The board will add 8 of these positions to their current staff, but there are 18 of us. Our dept at the college is creating some other positions, but they are not in our field of specialization and more administrative. No one from the funding agency had the brass to come down and speak with us directly, the cowards.

It might turn out to be a good thing eventually, but right now it's really scary because DH's income isn't stable yet. What really makes me angry is that the funding agency is throwing away an incredible team, family really, of dedicated and talented early childhood professionals. No one ever even came out to watch us work or talk to the people in the community with whom we work. This blows

. I'm so tired of feeling off-kilter and unstable. I'm taking tomorrow OFF - what are they gonna do, fire me?

You poor thing

I am really sorry this is happening.

I swear, companies today just don't seem to get it. Most places today don't care about "good people", they only care about their bottom line. I totally feel your pain!! My company just merged with another company and we were all offered voluntary lay off packages. I'm taking it since i will get 32 weeks pay and 6 months paid COBRA. I just hope they let me go. They can actually choose to keep you even if you resign. The b*stards!!

Maybe this is what you need? A little break during TTC might be really helpful. I think that everything is gonna be ok with DH's income. DP and I have decided that if we have to cut back to live on one salary for awhile until my real estate business takes off, so be it. It's temporary and the most important thing right now is having one of us home for our baby(ies)...biological or adopted.

Everything is gonna be ok. Hang in there sweetie*
