Default DIUI and sex???

What are the rules? I'm too me to ask my doc this question.

O.K. so if you do IUI with your husbands boys, they tell you to have sex to up your chances. But what about sex and DIUI?

Should/do you and your DH or DP have sex after IUI? If not, how long do you wait? Is penetration off limits or orgasm, or both?

Do you abstain before a u/s? I'm always paranoid something will show up on the screen, or the nurse will know.

I'd abstain before the IUI a day or so just so the good swimmers will have a clear way. The RE says not to have sex the day of the IUI because of the chance of infection (whatever). When we got pg with our DD we did it the same day as the IUI (after). I've heard rumor that an orgasm is good right after the IUI as it helps "suck" the boys into the tubes. Don't know how much is fact or theory though! I'd say either way is fine. We plan to BD after the IUI. :-)

There is a lot of debate on whether or not sex with your partner is good or bad when you are doing an IUI cycle. I do think though that orgasm is good and could well help propel the sperm to the tubes.

We abstain but it's like TNbabyRN said above, it's to make sure the IUI guys don't have to fight with DP's...which we don't think exist but don't want to take the chance. I'd talk it with your doc for guidance.

We were told by our Peri NOT to have sex right before or for several days AFTER our IUI...
