Default HELP! Ovulating with immature follicles?

Is this possible? I got a crystal clear +OPK ten minutes ago - the test line TWICE as dark as the ref line - it was close to the ref line last night, but not quite there. Yesterday's 10:30 am u/s showed two follies, one 14 mm and one 12 mm, lining at 6 mm (bad...). Can these follies pop without being mature??? Is the lining so thin that it is not even worth attempting an IUI? Would you do an IUI in this situation - probably tomorrow morning?

Wow - quiet, quiet board - I remember when we could post a help post and get 5-10 responses right away. Here's my update - went in for an u/s at 9:30 am and the follicles were 14 and 16mm - will do an IUI tomorrow morning figuring that the 16 will be 18mm by then - the smaller one probably won't make it. Lining was 7.3mm and he prescribed progesterone for afterwards to deal with the LP.

I think there's time for this to correct itself, which is becoming evident by your u/s this morning.

Are you taking a baby aspirin everyday? Best wishes!!!

Well, I know people from my clinic that have been pg with a lining of 7. In fact, one of my RE's said she had a lady with a lining of 5 get pg last year! You have to remember that when they measure your lining it could be a 6 or it could be an 8 or 9 depending on where exactly they measured and who was doing the measuring. I have had one RE measure my lining at 11.2 and the very next day a different RE measured it at 8.3!!!!!!!!!! I got pg that cycle. A different cycle, one RE measured it at 11.2 and another RE measured it at 9.8. Go figure.

The optimum lining is 8 and above, so I still think you have a good shot this month. As for the follie size, my clinic considers a 15 to be mature. After doing 3 IVF cycles I know that those follies that measure that small are fine because they have always fertilized with no problems. I think you should add a trigger shot to make sure you ovulate, but even if you don't I think it will be fine. If you got your + surge, I think it will be just fine. If this cycle is a bust (but lets not think that way!) I would definitely ask your RE about putting you on estrogen suppositories to thicken that lining.

By the way, you had 2 follies unmedicated??? Also, have you had the normal routine tests? I think bare minimum you need to have an HSG. Definitely!!!!!!!! Make sure those tubes are open.

Good luck this cycle!

Your follies will continue to grow slightly once you start to surge...positive OPK's indicate ovulation with 48 hours so you still have time for maturation to finish..the 16mm will definitely hit 18mm (18-22mm which is optimal - so sounds wonderful) in the next day or so...your lining should thicken a bit more also in the next 24 hours...8-10mm was what our clinic wanted!
