FMU means first morning urine. Moy could probably explain the evaporation line thing better than me. I don't know why it happens - just that it does.

I hope there is hope yet!!

A couple of cycles ago I got a second pink line after 4 minutes...it was an evaporation line.

I hope it's a BFP. No sign of AF is very positive!! That would be 3 in a row!!! Go test already!!!!

On some tests (no particular brand - can happen to most brands) if left to sit...as the urine evaporates from the area where a second line is supposed to appear it can cause a faint line to appear...instructions should be followed closely and most tests are NOT to be read after 5-10 minutes for this exact reason...false lines appear as the urine dries..

Here is what I found online....

"What are evaporation lines?
Evaporation lines, as the name suggests are caused due to evaporation of the urine in then test area. These are lines that shows in the result window of the test, exactly where a positive sign would be. An evaporation line develops when the urine on the test area begins to dry, leaving a faint line. Evaporation lines appear to show up (or not show up) as a result of the composition of the particular urine specimen - and they may appear on any test regardless of brand.

How can you avoid formation of evaporation lines?

You should always read the literature that comes with the test and look for instructions on when to read your results. Usually home pregnancy tests have a reaction time of three to five minutes. While some tests are no longer accurate after a certain amount of time, others have been known to pick up Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) after a longer period of time than is recommended. You can only know for sure by testing again a few days or a week later. If you don't see a positive result in the amount of time that the manufacturer states, you should not rely on that test result. Evaporation lines can cause confusion if the home pregnancy test is not interpreted within the clinically recommended time frame."

Thanks ladies.. The only problem with regarding the very faint pink second line is I have no idea when it originally appeared.. I tested at 5:30 this morning and saw the 2nd line at around 10am when I looked at it for the 2nd time in better light.... so I dont know if it was there to begin with due to the lack of light in the room... also I just tried another test, a very cheap one that I ordered of the internet (20 samples for $30 I think) and I got a very very faint line that was hard to detect at first, but it was there and it happened within 5 minutes.... I am just trying to stay positive as this has happened to other ladies and it is positive...
