Default How much to order?

Hi Girls,
Well this is my first post looking for some feedback. DH and I have finally chosen our Donor, we're going through Cryobiology in Ohio. My question is how much to order or ship. My RE's office does have a cryo facility to keep extra for a few months and he suggested having 2 or 3 sent the first time so I'll have it for 3 months if required. I was also thinking of ordering additional and having them "stored" for future use; either for this time around or for a sibling. Like maybe buy 10, because Cryobiology will buy them back if they don't leave their facility. I just don't look forward to going through this Donor selection thing over and over, but don't want to buy too much. I don't know, what do you think or what have some of you done? I will probably be having my 1st IUI in mid to late October so I don't want to wait too long. Thanks for any suggestions!

It depends a little on whether you're going to do a single or double IUI each cycle. Since your bank has the buyback, I think 10 sounds like a good idea

and also if you REALLY, REALLY like this donor I would buy as much as the bank will let you purchase. We have been trying for 2 1/2 years (we are now doing IVF) and we have been using the same donor all along. I do NOT want to change donors and I have been very lucky with getting enough vials of my donor. I do not even see that he has been available for about 6 months. We have 4 vials left and I am praying that this IVF next week gets me pg. Once these are gone I don't think I will be able to get my donor again. He is Canadian and with that new law that went into effect I seriously doubt that any Canadian man would want to donate now. Anyway, I digress......but definitely buy as many as possible since your RE can store them (if you absolutely do not want to lose this donor). Good luck

Gosh Maddy,

You have been through so much, I give you Alot of credit. I agree about not wanting to run out so I will probably "stock up" if I find out there is a limited supply. I'm so glad for you about the adoption process, I know a couple who just adopted and they ended up with twins!

We bought as many as we could afford at one time since our donor's changed often (due to availablity and gov't regulations) and the one we liked may not have always been available...
