Default HSG Results and COA

Hello all. I just got back from my HSG. After my 3rd neg, RE wanted to check to make sure there was not a physical problem. Well, there is and there isn't. The HSG showed no blocked tubes BUT it did show inflammed tubes. Tubes were swollen. It turns out that this can be due to several things including current/past STD's such as gonorrhoea or chlamydia-neither of which I have ever had- or infection during childbirth, which I did have with Seth. I ran a fever towards the end of the birth and had to be on 2-3 (can't remember which) IV anti-biotics for 4 days. Since I KNOW it is not an STD (no se

and since I know that the tubes were fine pre-Seth (I had an HSG with him and showed no probs), I am left to conclude that the infection I got in the hospital with Seth did some tubal damage. Unless they can reduce the swelling, my options are limited to IVF.

Does anyone know anything about this type of inflamation? Any experiences with this?

I have not talked to the Doc yet. I will do that tomorrow and keep you all posted.

Jen

I haven't experienced that but it sounds like something that could definitely hinder the cilia in the Fallopian tubes, causing difficulties. I would think that they might be able to give you another antibiotic and maybe a mild steroid to combat the swelling.

I am of course NOT a doctor, but I'm thinking that treatment should resolve this. I would try the treatment and see where you are then. I hope it works for you!

You know after an HSG many women get pg immediately, so maybe between that and the treatment for the inflammation, you will find success!
