Default Just got some info. from Xytex re Canadian donors

Hey everybody! I just called Xytex to check up on my donor because I haven't seen him on their list in AGES!! I talked to Sheridan (she is so sweet!) and she told me that they have temporarily closed their Toronto office down until May of 2006 because of the new law that started in May (where Canada can no longer pay their donors). From what I understand they most likely will not be re-opening their doors unless the law changes.

So, apparently they are having a "group" blood draw for all their donors that will be held sometime in November. She said they had to offer them their 10% holdback (or whatever it's called...I wasn't really clear on this) to try and make sure they get them all there. What this means is that all Canadian donors will be released from quarantine after their blood tests clear (I'm assuming in Nov?).

I wanted to give the heads up to all of you that have Canadian donors that you really like!! Call Xytex and be put on the list.....because once it's gone....it's gone forever.

I was very sad to hear about this, but luckily we have 5 vials of our donor left and since we are doing IVF it looks like we will only be using 1 vial at a time (2 ma

so there is still a chance for siblings later down the road with our donor. We are thinking of ordering 3 or 4 more after he gets his blood draw cleared just to stock pile. I doubt I will do more than 4 more fresh IVF cycles.

I hope this info. helps some of you. I surpised Xytex didn't send out a letter to all their customers who have used a Canadian donor in the past.

This scares me..... at some point I know that there will be such a shortage of donors in Canada, that our dreams of getting pregnant will be eliminated. Lets pray that we all get BFP's soon.... so we don't have to face this upcoming shortage in Canada!!

Thanks Maddy for the update.

Lisa, I don't think you have anything to worry about if you choose an American donor that is Canadian compliant. Personally, I prefer a canuk....y'all are nicer.

I am even very proud of my MADE IN CANADA lawn mower.
