I forgot to put in my last message I also did acupuncture treatments. There is a protocol for invitro. Everyone that I know that did the treatment was successful their first time. We'll see if I am tomorrow! Anyway, you can go to easternharmonies.com to find someone in your area that has been trained specifically for invitro treatment. When I started I was full of fibroids, cysts and all sorts of other junk in my uterus and by the end of the treatment everything was completely gone and my Dr. was exclaiming on how great everything looked. He couldn't believe it but did a BIG eye roll when I said it was from acupuncture. It helps keep you relaxed and calm too. Just an idea

Leslie,

How soon before you started IVF did you start your acupuncture treatments? I have heard great things about it, and am considering trying it myself if this cycle doesn't work for us. Is it something you have to start months before actually doing the invitro? Thanks Missy

My advice would be find some method that helps you relax - be it acupuncture (which I've heard many good things about but didn't use myself), meditation, music, exercise, whatever, and do it as often as you can. Make time to be nice to yourself - regularly.

We wrote notes at every appt as to what the doses, timings etc of the meds were.

We are offered free specialist councilling automatically here in the Uk - if you get the chance I'd suggest going, at least once - you may be surprised. I found it helpful in advance of tx in that it got us talking about ways dh could support me, and ways I could relax. It also helped us to talk about the stickier issues that may crop up.

Drink lots of water - it helps avoid headaches during d/reg, and can help avoid hyperstimming during stimms.

And when it comes to test day - if any of your friends/family know - tell them you'll contact them when You're ready to.

IVF with ICSI is our only way of conceiving too - after all the barrage of tests on us both it was both incredibly exciting and completly terrifying at the same time when we finally started tx in Dec. Each stage of tx is like another hurdle to overcome - so just take it one thing at a time. The ladies on these boards are amazing, so don't be afraid to ask questions / vent.

Missy, I started acupuncture 6 months before I went but that was only because it took that long for my clinics to organize (I live in Alaska, had to go to Minnesota). I'm not sure the protocol but I know it helped me.

Hi Laura-Thanks to you and everyone for the good advice...I started the process over a year ago but kept hitting barriers (my tubes had to be removed, then they found TB in the tubes, so I had to be on antibiotics for six months)...my next appointment is Monday (5/3). I'm really hoping that nothing else will come up to stop the process this time. I'm saying prayers for you! I know for most pregnancies 3 months is the "safe" marker...is it any diffferent with IVF???

Thanks again for your help!
Bonnie

My advice is to stay busy, too much time spent thinking about it was my downfall. Best of luck! Laura ann
