Unhappy P4 results in not good news.

According to my clinic my P4 results were really low and probably "to low to be currently supporting a pregnancy" they told me not to hold out much hope for this cycle and right enough I can feel AFs impending arrival.

I was very very sad yesterday and had a really good cry, it feels like end of an era my last DIUI I think in my heart of hearts I really thought with no female issues DIUI would work for us. But then when I look at the protocols over here only 1 follie grown to 16mm, a very small dose of trigger, and only ever half a million motile sperm per IUI it is no wonder it never worked really. So the positive side of this is IVF has every chance of working they grow as many eggs as possible about 15 is average and fertilise them all.

I spoke to my clinic who have passed us on to the IVF team we should have an appointment in about 6 weeks to get started. We will begin with 1 full IVF then have any embryos left over put back in FETs till their all gone then another full IVF and FETs till all embryos used and that is us done with ttc a frightening thought!!

So all in I am feeling positive today that either way we are a step closer to our child I mean we are either 1 IVF away from a pregnancy or 2 IVF away from our adoption plans after 6 years ttc we are closer than we have ever been to being parents and that is what I will focus on. I am very nervous to go onto IVF the egg collection scares the pants off me I am not good with pain but I can do it!!

Fianlly I wanted to say thanks to all you guys here who have supported me over 2 years, 12 DIUI and major surgery you advice, care and hugs have truly kept me going. So onto the home straight I go with you guys at my side how can I lose!!!!

When pregnant with triplets (two of whom didn't make it) my P4 at 12 DPO was only 11.5 and my beta HCG was 3. I did have one baby survive even with those low numbers.

So don't count yourself out yet!

Ruth,

I'm so sorry.

I think the protocol over there is what the problem is - honestly. Some women don't have anything mature on follies triggered at 16mm. My follies always had to be 20mm+ before I would get pg, and I imagine you're similar. I wish you could fly over here for a cycle!!!!

I hope that moving to IVF is the solution and I pray it works the very first time!

I am frustrated that your P4 levels weren't checked on an earlier cycle and that you haven't been given supplements. I still credit progesterone supplements with keeping my pregnancy alive!

My protocol did work with a 16mm follie (without trigger), but it might just be that 16 isn't ready enough for yours...

I wish you the very best of luck.
