Default A positive insurance experience....WHOA

Hi!
Well you all know that I shelled out $8K this summer (not including sperm) for my 4 failed IUIs. Well my new insurance ROCKS. Not only do they cover IUIs at 100% up to 6, they have a whole infertility program. You call them and become part of "the program" and they give you authorization numbers over the phone. I asked if they covered 1 or 2 IUIs/cycle and she said "we recommend 2 per cycle" --- so it's 6 CYCLES not 6 IUIs.

Anyway I'm all authorized for next week. I only have 6 precious vials left, so I was gonna do a single IUI but I'm READY to be pg so I am going to bracket. I am going to go in for monitoring on cd13 and hopefully do an IUI Wed and Thurs. (I seem to o on cd 14/15 on Clomid, so if I trigger the night of cd 13 that should be perfect!!!

After my month off and my clear HSG...I'm very optimistic. I hope my optimism is substantiated!!! After all if I'm supposed to get pg w/in 6 cycles and this is 5, let's go for it.

Anyway I couldn't believe how nice this insurance co was. I guess I can't say I hate insurance companies anymore...

That is wonderful news that your insurance will cover it!

Ours covered nothing and we spent at least $2500 a month!

I must ask, what insurance company do you have?

That is AWESOME!! You know all the horrid experiences I had with Cigna. I was SO glad to leave them. I'm so happy they are covering this for you!!

I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say you have United Healthcare. I have had them for '04 and can't say enough good things about them. Of course, my employer picked the top notch ins. policy for infertility, so I consider myself truly blessed and lucky now that we are doing IVF. Mine covers up to $25,000 lifetime and a separate pharmacy carrier (Medco) with unlimited injectible meds.

Congrats again and lets just hope it only takes ONE IUI this time!
