Hi guys, it's about 6AM here and I can't sleep - our transfer is at 11 this morning! I don't know the exact quality yet, but we had four eggs fertilize. Truly that is more than I thought would ever make it and I feel deeply thankful that we have a fighting chance. I'm wondering if we'll be able to freeze any (one?) but will cross that bridge when we come to it.

I also lucked into a great opportunity - I was asked if I'd like to participate in an acupuncture study that takes place before and after the retrieval - how about "YES!"? I can't be part of the larger study since I don't live around here, but I get to do this part - I think it's a mini trial run before the actual deal. I really wanted to do acupuncture throughout this entire process but it wound up being too much driving on top of all those ultrasounds and much more expensive than I originally thought.

As for the fluid, there's been no further mention of it - the nurse said if the docs were concerned they would've put it in my records and there's nothing there so....on with the show!!

So, we're going to leave about 8AM, get some breakfast, a bottle of water, and Glinda I'm going to get a fresh pineapple to eat in the car afterwards (somehow)!!! And pasta for lunch! I've been told it's fine to drive home afterwards so that's what we're going to do.

I'm "cautiously optimistic" (OK, excited as hell!), and grateful that if nothing else, at least there will be some transcendent moments in this process. Even if the little guys don't make it, DH and I have made something beautiful together.

Please remind me of this if I get a BFN!

Oh my gosh Julie...everything sounds great and like it was totally meant to be

You must have some good sturdy eggs because 4 out of 5 is great. They retrieved 8 from me, did ICSI and only 3 fertilized. You go girl! I'm so happy for you that you get to do acupuncture also...I swear it made the difference with me between the 1st and 2nd tries. Can't wait to hear how it goes.
