I had my 6 month follow up with my surgeon today. She walked in and was like "JEN! I barely recognize you!" Heh, I'm sure she says that to
us all. Still a bit of an ego boost, so I'll take it. LOL
We went through the usuals of how I'm feeling, questions, any issues with food/pouch, etc. She said that I need to--get this--eat more. More of the good stuff of course. She says to develop good habits during my "honeymoon" period so that maintenance is easier. Also to help maintain muscle mass. I told her of my plans to join a gym that is opening behind where I work. She said this is the optimal time for me to start working out because between 6-9 months is when the weight loss slows down. Which leads me to...
....I joined a gym LOL. It's not open yet, but they'
re already taking memberships and giving GREAT deals. I toured the gym (it's in the last bit of construction) and was truly impressed. I had researched the other places and was a little sad they didn't offer childcare. Well this place does! I was sold. I walked into this huge room they have set up for the kids---man, to be a kid again. It's awesome. Matthias is going to have a BLAST! The staff w/ cc are all certified in child care/background checked/registered with the state. No one except that staff and the manager are allowed in that room. They also have it set up where you can watch the kids on the each machines little TV (you'
re given a code). No guilt about leaving him behind or feeling bad about asking his g'parents to watch him more (they babysit while I work). I can also bring a guest each time, which hopefully I can get BF in there a couple times a week. The price isn't bad at all...everything included (tanning beds, a huge variety of classes, elipticals, child care) $20/month. I can't wait until they open!
As for numbers, I started out 294 and am currently 197. 97 pounds in 6 months!
Oh! Something else I talked to my surgeon about....I feel like I'm super clumsy these days. Seriously, I've stumbled down the stairs twice in the last week...amongst other goofy things. She said it IS related to the weight loss. Mainly when a person carries their weight around their mid-section and then lose it--they lose their center of gravity. With time, it should work itself out. All I can say is thank goodness we have excellent urgent cares & ERs nearby LOL
