Talking I made a boy shirt!

Here's the boy shirt I made for my best friends little boy to match his holey hoodie! I used a flatlocking technique for the first time to make it look a little more boyish and break up the printed fabric. She doesn't know about the shirt, so I'm excited to surprise them! The shirt is from Ottobre 1/2008 #27 in a 92 cm width and 104 cm length.

that's fabulous!

I've been meaning to attempt the flatlock at home here too (never done it and have a perfectly good serger waiting and willing

but I'm just too lazy to actually switch it all around.
Right now, my serger is set to do the hankerchief hem (rolled hem) for a bunch of projects my church is doing and I hate switching it all around.
But this might be what I need to get me fired up.

the cutter is already off... maybe I should just figure out how to switch the plate back and set it up for the flatlock.

I switch my settings and needle positions constantly! It wasn't much of a switch to take a needle out, crank the remaining needle tension down the right looper up and sew. The tricky part was remembering to put the pieces wrong sides together. It took all my mental power to not put them right sides together!!!

I have a 5 thread machine, so I switch things back and forth all the time during projects! 5 thread setting to 4 thread safety stitch, to a 3 thread rolled hem and then back to a 5 thread setting

It wasn't a big stretch to go to a flatlock! Its a nice sporty finish and I like it!

Have fun!

ETA: My friend also has a yr old girl! She's the one I made the yellow cross over one piece outfit for with the striped bindings!

you sound like me. There are a few times here and there I have to put things wrong sides together and it takes ALL my mental capacity to do it.

And for some reason, putting on sleeves takes extra brain power too
