about the presents (to take back to japan)

lovely fabrics. the pink and red are meant for yukata (summer kimono) or children's jinbei (a kind of short yukata and shorts). i've been considering getting some and making sasha a summer dress (or two, or three

Thank you for your expertise! My brother had never set foot in a fabric store before

The fabrics feel like they are part or all poly, but I haven't burn tested them. I'm going just by feel, which can be deceiving with the deep texture.

I think I'm going to hold on to the fabrics until next Spring before making them up. We're so late in our Summer and I don't want the girls to outgrow what I make! I also haven't decided exactly what I want to make with them yet

I just keep staring and petting them

Do you by chance know if the texture would iron out? I always iron all my seams and wouldn't want to hurt the fabric texture!

actually, i don't know, but i don't think it would. i see a lot of it at fabric stores so i assume people use it to make jinbei and yukata at home. i have washed and dried (store-bought) jinbei, and japanese washers are rough, and i have to hang it outside to dry, and the texture is still going strong.

I have a gentle front loader and hang everything to dry in my laundry room. It helps keep down the wear and tear from the drier! I'll try ironing a scrap and see how it handles! I love the thick texture!!!!
