Talking My gifts from Japan!

My brother lives in Japan (he teaches there) and is visiting us here this week during his vacation time. He asked me what I would like from Japan and I told him fabric and pattern books!

The blue floral is a bottom weight cotton. I'm thinking it needs to be a bag, skirt or both!

The purple is a very high quilting cotton

The red fish and pink dragonfly fabrics are my favorites. They feel like high poly content. They are similar in feel to Tutti-Fruity from JA, but the texture is much richer! I love the prints and will be making dresses for my girls out of them! There are 2 yds each!

Then he got me 3 pattern books and a pattern. The woman's pattern book in the center has some beautiful outfits in it. The girls summer collection has gorgeous clothes as well! The pattern and other pattern book have more traditional Japanese clothes.

I think he did great! He hasn't given the gifts he brought to my DH or the girls yet. He got the girls kimonos, so that should be cute.

Its expected in Japan for people to bring back gifts for every person they've ever met when they travel. That means he's supposed to bring back a present for each and every one of his students (over 200!). He went to the bank and got a bunch of the newer state quarters to give each of them

They don't have a 25 cent piece and American money will be really cool! They are supposed to be collectors items right?

those are wonderful!
I'd totally make a wraparound skirt out of that blue flower.

I think a shiny quarter from the USA is a fabulous gift idea for all his students.

A wrap skirt would be adorable! I have a mock wrap pattern that I adore. It has a full underskirt lining! Its great for when a kid wants to sit in your lap or the wind catches the hem. You don't show up to your high thigh

So it looks like a wrap skirt, but doesn't have the wrap skirt problems. And I have the pattern traced already
