Default egg collection done yesterday - 4 good eggs, 3 maybe's, and 2 definately not good

well, i survived yesterday! after the anesthesia wore off, around 1 or 2 pm, i was dying! i couldn't get up from bed and when i did to go to the bathroom, it hurt! i felt like my uterus was going to fall out or something!

i got the call from the doctor today, saying that 4 are good eggs, and 3 maybe's. of that, only half will fertilize, so we will end up with nothing to freeze. egg transfer is scheduled for tues at 6:30am. the doc recommends that i use an anesthesiologist again b/c i have a very curved uterus and the more relaxed i am, the better the chances are. don't know.

i'm back to work again with a heating pad on my stomach, it doesn't hurt that bad today, but i'm still afraid to go to the bathroom! i'm just on antibiotics and tylenol and prenatal vitamins. am i all done with injections/shots or should i not get too happy?

Ah!! I can relax!! I'm glad you're home safe.

Hon, I have none to freeze, and you know what?? I don't care!!! I am pregnant, and sure if we want any more I might have to go through this again, but right now, I have no regrets about not having any frosties!!

I also wanted ot say that he doesn't know that half won't fertilise for 100% sure. One of the ones that made it to embryo was one of my eggs that was borderline immature!! It's not down to him what works and doesn't work, it's down to nature and whoever you believe to be God. Your Dr will never know for sure!

So, I'm guessing that if you had EC on Thursday and you're having ET on Tuesday, than your Dr is planning on taking the embryo's to blastocyst then? If you have so few eggs (as I did) then I would just ask him what the benefit in doing this?

If they say you'll have none to freeze then they won't need to be looking for dominant embryos, and our specialist said because of this there was no benefit in taking them to blast, as the best place for them to be was back inside me. I had a 2 day ET, with EC on Wednesday and ET on Friday.

I'm not saying he's wrong, just interested to know his reasons for wanting to take them to blast.

Now both you and Amanda, I want embryo-updates!! How many cells are they? What's their quality??? I need to know!! Jeez I so badly want to be able to call you both and speak to you!!

Tracey,

That was the exact same question I had. So my husband went in yesterday to check on the eggs, and the doctor said something about they only want to put eggs back in that are good or something. I still don't understand alot of this procedure and just agree with the doctors. She said that the guy who checks on the eggs (which is her husband!) comes in over the weekend, and it might turn out that we would do the transfer on sunday, but i haven't received any calls, so i think it's still set for tuesday. i go back in on monday for bloodwork. now, i'm just taking tylenol and doxycyclene 2x/day.

you might have said this before, but how many times did you go thru ivf? also, how many eggs did you have and how many fertilized, and how many did you transfer? my dh is REALLY excited and i'm not so much b/c i don't want to be disappointed.

ok, the doc said to avoid lovemaking. is it going to hurt if we do?

my doc also scheduled for an anesthisiologist (however you spell it) for my transfer. she said it'll make it easier and the more relaxed i am, the better the results will be. our insurance doesn't cover it, so it's an additonal $400! is she just recommending it to get extra money or what?

lucy

amanda- continue to keep us posted! hope you're feeling better and that you're being pampered this weekend.
