Default Colds

I hate having a cold when pregnant - it sucks! What's worse is that I got it from my cousin's husband! He got it on Monday while we were staying at their house. It was just a matter of time.

At least I finally slept a little last night. Hopefully, it clears up soon!

You can use regular saline nasal spray (my doc recommends Ocean brand--I use the generic), Vicks rub, zinc lozenges, and Tylenol for aches.

Sudafed is "probably" fine and my doc says it's okay to use it. Some sources suggest waiting until after the 1st trimester to use it. So you can decide what's right for you.

Also, dig out that humidifier and have it running at night to help keep things moist and moving. Also keep up with those fluids to thin out secretions and keep you & Baby hydrated.

I hope you're better soon!!

I had pneumonia for 3 months when I was pregnant with our second--I was miserable. So I know how much it sucks.

Thanks guys - I took some Sudafed - neither the RE or my regular OB said that wasn't safe in the 1st trimester. I feel much better as of this evening.

I've been taking Sudafed for my sinus issues. My doc said it was fine, in fact I called to say that I thought that I was taking it too much, and they said as long as I was following the instructions on the box i was fine. I've been taking one at bedtime for a week to combat this HORRIBLE sinus headache I get every fall. I usually take Zyrtec in the spring and fall but the doc said sudafed.
