  • It's a new technology. It actually measures the fluid behind the spine. Along with the u/s is a blood test, they combine the results from both tests to reassess the possibility of chromosomal abnormality. Babies with chromosome abnormalities tend to have more fluid.
    It's more accurate than the previous testing that they had that brought lots of false positives.

    It was offered to me because of my age. I'll be 35 when this baby is born. I typically refuse all such tests, but went ahead and did this one. I had mine on Monday. It was very reassuring to me to see that everything looked good.
