We finally paid off our car. YAY! Now it needs repairs UGH.

Now that we don't have the 400/month car payment, I have no idea how we managed for the last few years. I've yet to see where we've saved any money. We took over more bills in the household but still...I'd like to at least be able to put $25 a month in savings. I know....BUDGET, BUDGET, BUDGET! I make one every month, but it's such a wasted effort. I read all the books, tips, etc. It's so frustrating. I think the Dave Ramsey envelope tip is a great idea--but Neal just thinks it is dumb. I know if we don't get on the same boat, we'll never save. I guess this is just another part of communication I mentioned in Relationships.

 
It's harder when one person is not on the same page. I hope you can sit down and make a definite plan.

Nah , I'm in favor of a good beating for them every now an then. Keeps them in line.

I'm with Susan...sometimes a good beating can go a long way.
 


In all seriousness, doing everything exactly as an "expert" suggests isn't as important coming to an agreement TOGETHER. For us, doing a written budget, on paper--on purpose, BEFORE the pay period begins has kept us on track for 5 years. We're now debt-free and putting $1500/month into savings.

He might think it's dumb. I think it works.
