Red face pre-term labor and appt update

I woke up Sat with some contractions. I tried to ignore them. They seemed to get better so I went to work. I kept having them at work (I am a nursing supervisor) and so I asked one of the OB nurses about it. She thought I should call my Dr and he was on call that day. So I did. He had me come over and get hooked up to the monitor. Nurse said I had 4 in first 7 minutes I was on they ended up giving me procardia to stop them. I was dehydrated. I am feeling better now.
Kinda scarey though. I never had this before. I did follow up with my Dr today. He said everything looked good. I requested NOT to know my weight anymore-- too depressing as I just lost 60 lbs before I got pg and I worked really really really hard for every ounce. I am trying so hard not to gain too much weight. But I freak when I see the scale go up so I just decided to stop torturing myself with the stupid scale.
I have been researching alot lately b/c I am one of those natural birth people. I am looking for alternate pain control measures instead of an epidural or narcotics. Everything I have read is pointing to waterbirth, so I talked with my dr about it and he said he wasnt against it but the look on his said something different. He said he had never done one before and thought it seemed messy!

I thought "since when is labor not messy!!??" anyway, I think the only way I am really going to have one is to homebirth or go to a birthing center around here. I dont want to change dr's b/c I otherwise like him. I was disappointed in his reaction, but he said he was open to it. He said with my deliveries he didnt think it would help with pain control. I have extremely fast deliveries known as "violent birth"

Last time I went from 5 cm to nursing her in 4 minutes so it may be a non issue!

That is scary about the contractions, make sure you keep yourself hydrated! Would you have to switch docs if you went with a midwife or a birthing center, I really know nothing about those options.
