Lightbulb Focus tricks for people with point-n-shoot cameras

if you're frustrated with pictures because the focus isn't quite right or you can't get the camera to focus in on the right things sometimes... here's a little trick.

when you hold the button down 1/2 way, the camera focus' on the center object.

so if you want to take a picture of a person in the side of a foreground and have them be in focus but the background be 'distant' or blurry as most of the background... What you do is point the camera straight at the person so that they are in the center of your camera. Hold the button down 1/2 way and let the camera focus on that person properly. Without letting go of the button, move your camera over a little to the side so that your person is on the side of the viewfinder and then complete the button press to take the picture.
If you do this, Your camera will not re-focus to the center and the person on the side will remain in focus once the shot is taken.

ahh...
for that you have to use the zoom.

it's true that the close up pictures are difficult. the camera simply won't focus. The lense just isn't capable of getting very close.

So if you rely on the zoom, and then stand far enough away for it to be able to focus, you'll get your close up shots.
