we'
re finally getting to the bottom of Sarah's issues.
We've just been referred to Dr #5 and I think this is the last one before we get to the bottom and start with actual solutions.
Sarah has always ALWAYS had potty problems. We started potty training at 2 and weren't potty trained untl she was well into her 3s.
She is currently 7 and is still NOT night time potty trained and has accidents during the day frequently (about 4 or 5x a week)
So, we saw a Urologist. I didn't like him, he didn't attend to
us the way I thought we should be treated - so I asked for a pediatric Urologist. We saw him, and we have been working on getting the bowel blockage out of her bowels in the hopes that the blockage was the cause of her pee problems. After several months of trying to unblock, we were referred to the Pediatric G.I. Dr where he paid very acute attention to Sarah and what I had to say.
FINALLY, after many months that add up to well over a year of specialists.... (each specialist had a 6-8 week wait time just to get in to see them the initial time) The Pediatric GI Dr sent Sarah in for an MRI to rule out a tethered cord.
The results of the MRI have come back showing very little movement in her lower spinal column so we have been referred to a Pediatric Neurosurgeon.
After talking to a couple other parents who've had children go thru the surgery for the tethered cord....
The official diagnosis doesn't come from anyone BUT the Neurosurgeon, and we wouldn't have been referred to that Dr unless it was probable.
Expecting a 6-9 month wait to see the Neurosurgeon, I am happy to announce that our wait time will only be 6 weeks.

After that, I have every confidence that Sarah will be sent for back surgery to clip the tether at the end of her spinal column and we shall see improvements after that.
Our road for a completed potty training experience has an end in sight... finally.
