Dealing with a reluctant dad

  • So I just found out I was pregnant (5 weeks) and I told my husband last night. To say it went badly is an understatement. The backstory is that we have been married for over10 years. He said he wanted children at the beginning, then didn't want children and then said he would do it. We tried to conceive for about 4 years and it put a big strain on our marriage and we separated (I was the initiator) and then got back together. Things were going along pretty well and then in the last month or so he started to think that maybe he wasn't fulfilled himself. Of course, this is when I get pregnant. He thinks his life is over (he likes to travel and do music), even thought have told him from the get go I would do most of the care fr the child so he could get his needs met.
I really wish and hope that he can someday be supportive but I just don't know if he can. I am trying to not take everything he says personally because I know he is in shock but it is so hard.
I really feel lost and I don't feel like I can tell anyone because they will hate him.
Any advice would be so appreciated!
