Thumbs up March of Dimes Puts Prematurity on the Natl Health Agenda

This came in my e-mail this morning from The March of Dimes, and I thought others here might be interested in the information.

Preterm Birth: A National Priority

In 2006, the March of Dimes secured enactment of the PREEMIE Act (P.L. 109-450). This law is a major step in putting prematurity on the national health agenda and calls for expanding federal support for research, education and pilot testing strategies to prevent preterm birth. It also calls for the Surgeon General to convene a conference to create a public-private agenda that will accelerate the development of new strategies for preventing preterm birth. This conference is scheduled for mid-June.

about the conference, and also how to make your voice heard on the importance of funding prematurity-related research.
