I live in a big valley which is bascially 2 cities plus 1 snobby area that refuses to be part of the 2 cities. There are 7 different school districts (east, west, HS, elementary, etc.)

Some of the districts start on Aug 10 or Aug 11, the others not until Sept 8. Thats 5 wks difference! What a PITA for families with kids in both HS & elementary!

And a PITA for me because the girl who babysits for me so I can get my butt to the gym goes back to school 5 wks before my kids so I have to rearange my schdule!

That is crazy! All of the schools in the immediate area around me start within a week or 2 of each other.

Thats what I think!

all the schools in our part of the state start the same time, if not the whole state. after labor day. that is a real bummer.

Wow thats crazy. Our schools all start around the same time before labor day. But they do delay those children in Kindergarten and Pre-K. Those children start 1 week after the school year begins. So my oldest Ana goes back on Aug 26th and my middle child Lexy who's going into Kindergarten starts Aug 31st.
