Default I know you ladies will understand

I have a lot of friends in real life and online with toddlers Mariahs age. While I am so happy for their little ones, I get so tired of Mariah never being the "first" at anything, and more often than not, she is the last

She has no diagnosed issues, but being prenatally drug exposed she qualifies for therapies. She is in speech, physical, and play therapy. When she does new things, I get so happy. But tots her age have been doing them for months! I know she will catch up, but I can't help but blame myself. Maybe if I interacted with her more, got down at her level, pushed her more. she would be more advanced. Sounds so trivial, I know. But I figured this would be the best place to post as you would understand the silent hurt moms like us feel as our kid's peers pass them by

I know exactly how you feel. As far as blaming yourself that is ridiculous, you were not the one to expose that sweet girl to drugs. It is not easy when Rachel is the last to do things, but showing her how proud I am of every little accomplishment helps us both.

I bet we've all been there!

Just keep focused on the progress, and try not dwell on where she is in her peer group. When Jacob was younger, he was fairly on track with his peers, but as he's aged, the gap has really widened and it's sometimes gets me down. But then, you'll have a HUGE breakthrough or milestone hit and it will make you so proud- just knowing how much work goes into the milestones our kids hit makes them that much sweeter.

you were right to come to this board we all understand and have been or are there now. I am so darn proud of Skyes accomplishments but at the same time I get so upset that she isn't doing what other kids her age are doing. But as the others have said its nothing that your doing wrong you are a wonderful mother.

Thank you ladies. I get soooo proud of her when she reaches milstones, even if they are way behind her peers. Just wish she could be first or even second at something. You are all wonderful!
