Question Day 1 or ... maybe not??

I'm wondering what you consider your day 1 for AF...
I know some of you are like clockwork but this girl is NOT! The last few months I tend to spot off and on for up to a week before AF really hits. (spotting only see it when I use bathroom but really don't need much in the way of a pad)

I seem to get different answers from different doctors. Maybe I'm completely off on my count and that's the problem. I've been counting day 1 when it's really not just spotting anymore.

Thoughts?!

TIA!

Hmm, not exactly sure, I've never asked my doc that. But some of women on here have told me that your 1st day of period is considered to a "bloody show" that occurs before 3pm. So, I guess if it happens after 3pm, the next day would truly be your 1st day. I don't think spotting would count. Hope that helps!

I have always been told to count your first day of "heavy red flow" as day one. do you ever track your cycle to see when you ovulate? or use OPK's?

I agree. Sometimes I have a light day at the beginning, but I count the second day with real flow as day 1.

thanks ladies!

i have tracked my cycle off and on for years. i'm never regular, even when i was on bc. so far i've never found a month when i have ovulated, even with clomid. but i'm doing another cycle this month and am still hopeful. obviously i ovulate once in awhile since we did conceive once before. will give it another valiant effort this month and then see what the dr says!
