Default finally and its about time...

I finally got an appt set up with an infertility specialist with Kaiser...But only after the infertility clinic called and left a nasty message that they only had one new dr and 250 patients waiting to see her and they were trying to hire two more but just cant seem to find someone to work at their office...hmmmm wonder what that means!!! Anyways before I got my appt, I called the customer service number..thats right customer service call center no less...what kind of health organization is this....??? Anyways, I let them have...that I had finally got to see my dr in june and have been waiting ever since to see a specialist..and that i finally get a voicemail message stating they have been trying to get a hold of me..by leaving messages on my cell phone...hmmmm I havent had any messages on my cell phone..and this was the first time I have gotten a call from the infertility clinic on my home phone...I am so frustrated....and I know when i go in next wednesday that they will give me crap about my blood pressure which will go up just before I get there...and go back to normal when I leave...its all psycosymatic...(spelling there)...So my question is....What am I suppose to expect at this appt with the RE...please enlighten me? And can I refuse to let them take my blood pressure until after the appt, once I have stopped fidgeting....etc...and have had a chance to calm down...

Well good luck at the appointment. I'm not sure what to expect. Hopefully the doctor will be great. The key with Kaiser is to have a great doc.. otherwise you get lost in the crowd. Luckily both my MIL and FIL work there so we've always had the hook ups but luckily haven't had to use their resources too much. Let us know how it goes.

I think you should definitely explain to them about the effect on your blood pressure. If they have any sense at all they will take you seriously.

Most REs go into this field because they want to help us - not because they like giving women a hard time. I hope you get a good doctor and that you feel you can relax a bit, and trust her/him.

Have you already had the blood tests/ Dh's semen analysis that REs usually ask you to have done before the appointment? Have you had an HSG? I had all those before my first RE appointment, and the appointment was just basically him telling us that they were all normal, and setting me up for a lap to see whether I had endo. Depending on your test results so far, the RE could tell you exactly what your problem is, or have to send you for more/different tests.

Not sure what other advice to give you... hope it all goes well!

I have Kaiser Northern California. I remember my first appointment with infertility here I just met with the nurse coordinator and did some paperwork and got lab slips. Here at least you don't meet with the doc very often. Usually you just meet with a nurse. There used to be two infertility docs here, but one quit and we're down to just one.

I can say that once you are in the infertility system in Kaiser, they are much more efficient and you get seen for appointments much quicker. I unfortunately got to know the system well.

Good luck when you go in.

Amy

OK, I just looked up your profile and you are in the Bay Area. I lived there for ten years or so and actually had my first baby at Kaiser Redwood City. I am now in the Sacramento area (had to get out of the housing market in SF, I'm sure you know what I mean

) so my RE is in Sacramento.

With Kaiser you just have to learn how to work the system. I've found being very nice and crying a lot works wonders.
