Question High Prolactin Level

Hi. I was wondering if anyone here now or ever has had a problem with high prolactin levels & NOT have been pregnant/nursing. My last set of blood work revealed that I have a high prolactin level. I'm going to have the test redone, but I have been reading everything I can find on this. But even from site to site, treatment options are different. I'm getting ready to see a new obgyn, so I'm not sure how he'll proceed, but my last gyn wanted just to restart Clomid...and do nothing about the prolactin. We'll see how this goes, but I'm not optimistic. I haven't had good luck w/ military doctors of actually wanting to help, but we'll see. Hopefully someone on here has had a similar problem and has some good advice.

TIA!
Shandi

Hmmm -- never heard of it. What does prolactin do/what is it for? Sorry I can't help. My SIL is a military wife (navy) and she had to push those docs a lot to get stuff done! Good Luck! This is one time where pushy may work in your favor!

Military life has a lot of good benefits, but unfortunately the drs are not one of them lol. Prolactin is a hormone that actually does a lot, but mainly triggers milk production. In my case, it's not high enough (for me) to actually produce milk, but my mammary glands are swollen. My last dr said that with my prolactin being high, it's causing me not to have visits from AF or to ovulate. But that's one dr's opinion of what's going on in there. Luckily our last base was so understaffed that they sent me off-base or I probably wouldn't have found that much out. No one had ever checked my prolactin levels. It just stinks b/c in the middle of all of this, we got PCS orders. So, now I'm starting all over...again. But at least we're here for 4 years, so I should get somewhere...hopefully.
