Default how many IUI's?

For those of you who have done IUI, how many cycles did it take for you to get pregnant? I read one article that said to give it at least four cycles. Is this right? What is your experience if you don't mind sharing?

I haven't had one, but I have heard from numerous people that they will do up to three!

I am no help because I only had 1 and when it didnt work I gave up with IUI becasue dh's sperm count is only borderline low, I decided just to BD because it's less stress. and the IUI made me fell real depresed because I went through so much and it didnt work. My RE suggest doing it still but I did get pg once with out it so I know I can now!

Check out this link for a bit of info. Paraphrased, it says your chances are between 6% and 26% depending on which study you read and how many eggs you have.

My doc always said your odds of getting pg with IUI on meds like clomid is around 13-15% each cycle.
I think the usual # of tries to expect before success, is 4-8. After 3-4 cycles alot of docs like to chancge you medication protocol. That is because if a protocol is going to work, it will usually do so within the 1st 4 months.

I did IUI's the my 1st TTC and it took 4 that was with clomid. This time round, I'm on cycle 5. Spent the first 4 cycles on femera, and am now on injectables. But I've picked up a few issues since I last TTC. Hopefully your journey will be short, but go ahead and mentally prepare yourself for the "long haul". It's better to expect it to take a long time and be surprised, than be dissapointed that it's taking so long.

Good Luck!!!

We just did our first IUI with clomid in September did get a positive result but sadly miscarried a few weeks ago. So it can happen on the first try.

Our doctor at the Fertility clinic is only prepared to do 2 more IUI's then suggests we look into IVF.
