So I am having that HSG done next friday and am a little freaked about it. It just seems so evasive. It's really not that bad is it? I am making a mountain out of a mole hill aren't I?

It's different for everyone I think!! For me I just had a lot of cramping but it just felt like real bad af cramps and as soon as they were done the cramps were gone. After I was real dizzy and nauseas when I first set up but I think that was due to all the stress and lack of food and because I’m a bit anemic the nurse made me drink some OJ and I was all better. My doctor only uses the water based dye now because the oil base can cause more problems so you might want to check and see if your doctor used the water based dye and ask them about it if they don’t!

I agree, it's dif for everyone. It felt no worse than a pap smear to me, but my SIL said the cramping was the worst pain she's ever had in her life. The doc should be able to tell you what pain meds to premedicate with. I think Ibuprophen does the trick. Also ask about getting a preventitive antibiotic as in rare cases, you can end up with an infection. Relax and breathe and you'll be fine. It's a molehill.

i do believe everyones pain tolerance is different. i do feel that the HSG was the worst pain i have ever felt. it only hurt bad while they were pushing the dye in, but then immediately it was some really mild cramping. just remember as much as it hurts remain still so they can get good x-rays. i know i only wanted to do that once. my doctor prescribed me an antibiotic and the day of told me to take some motrin. good luck w/ your test.
