  • ...Hi there everyone!

Just thought I'd let you know my latest, and explain my recent absence.

Basically since the 25th of August I've had renal colic, which was suspected as being caused by one or more kidney stones.

Well I had an ultrasound scan a week ago which showed that my left kidney wasn't draining properly and then on Friday the whole severe pain and vomiting thing kicked in again, but I went to my scheduled consultant appointment as planned. He was concerned that I've had obstruction for almost 6 weeks and was in considerable pain so acted quickly. Before I knew it I was at another hospital having a CT scan, and was scheduled for surgery.

Apparently I have a 6mm stone lodged somewhere between my kidney and bladder, which doesn't sound very big, but when you consider that the ureter is only 3mm wide then, it puts things into perspective! There's no chance that I'll pass it myself and after this time it's unlikely to break up.

So Tuesday I go in and they'll put me to sleep by gas, and remove the stone, and then I can start the path to getting better at last.

I am nervous about the surgery, and the post-op recovery, but so relieved that there is something wrong with me (and it's not in my head) and that it can be fixed!

So excuse me for being absent for a bit longer, but hopefully I'll be back to my usual self soon.

    Much love to everyone

Tracey I know how scared you are but like you said at least you now know what the problem is and the diagnosis is good too. Be good and rest up after the op and let Neil spoil you rotten
