  • Hi--My husband and I have been TTC for a year now. We have a 3 year old daughter and I got pregnant with her very quickly which makes it extremely frustrating that we're having so much trouble. I had the HSG test done today and found out that my left tube is blocked. Does anyone have any idea how the ovulation process works as far as whether you ovulate from the left side one month, the right side the next or whether it's just the luck of the draw so to speak. I'm just trying to figure out where we go from here now that I know I only have 1 tube open.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Hi Enza,

Having one tube blocked doesn't necessarily mean that it's bad for any eggs released from the ovary connected to the blocked tube.

The female anatomy isn't quite like how we see it in the biology books and it's possible to ovulate on one side and the other tube pick it up, but it's not felt to be very common.

The other possibilty treatment-wise for you to both do an IUI timed with you ovulating on your good side.

I wish you lots of luck.
