Default pre-af spotting Q? (TMI)

I keep reading that pre and postmenstrual spotting are symptoms of endometriosis. Can anyone tell me why, exactly? I have spotted 3 days before af every cycle for the past year or so. Its not exactly blood, more like stained mucus that gets darker till af arrives. I had a lap done 3 weeks ago as my gynae suspects endo, I wont get results till wednesday as he went to a conference straight after. I am just wondering really as I should be spotting today and no sign so far. Could he have done something during the lap that has cured this???? And if so, what? I guess I should be patient but the suspense is killing me!

Sorry I don't know much about endometriosis but hopefully your lap comes back with a clean report.

Thanx for your replies ladies, I saw the gynae this morning and there's absolutely nothing out of place in there!! I am feeling a bit ambivalent about this news, good it certainly is but then what is causing the terrible cramps every cycle??? I guess I am just expected to use anti-inflammatories till the menopause! Next step is SA for dh...he is NOT looking forward to it, and with only one testilcle left I dont blame him for being nervous!
