Unhappy Sperm DNA Fragmentation results...

...they arrived today.

They are bad.

Results are a measured in a percentage called the DNA Fragmentation Index (DFI)

Good results have a DFI of 0% to 14%
Moderate results have a DFI of 15% to 30%
Poor results have a DFI of over 30%, have a significant lack of fertility potential and are associated with early miscarriage.
In a study of 700 IVF cases in which ICSI was performed, pregnancy occurred in less than 1% of the cases when the DFI was greater than thirty.

Our result was 34%

We are devastated.

After our last DNA fragmentation test a year ago (which came out as 26%) we decided to make lifestyle changes and cut out alcohol and almost all processed food, we eat a diet high in organic food, and we've both been taking vitamin and mineral complex including extra vitamins and minerals recommended for male reproductive health.

We have decided to cancel our IUI, there's no point in wasting our emotions and time on something that will almost certainly fail.

We don't know where to go from here.

For the first time in ages we feel truly lost on our journey to have a child, and I feel like a piece of my heart is dying.

I am so sorry the results were not what you'd hoped. And after you've worked so hard. Not fair.

Tracey I am so terribly sorry. I know how much your heart is breaking. Take time to greave, and know your heart needs time to heal.

Thinking of you and always thinking of you in my prayers.

I am so incredibly sorry!

All I can suggest is go out and have a huge junkfood feast. Maybe it'll temporarily numb the pain.
