Default TTC #2

I have a 5 and a half year old son and my husband and I are ready to try again. The problem is that I have not had my period since the end of March and I suffer from irregular periods. This is the longest that I have gone without a period. We have taken plenty of pregnancy tests and t hey all come back negative. My son also wants us to have another baby so he can become a big brother. Since the begining of July every type of food seems to make me sick and I am tried all the time. We are nervous to take a pregnancy test because we have taken so many in the past and they all ame back negative. I am also an over weight woman but, I know many women who were still over weight and have had successful pregnancies. We really don't know what direction to go in next, any suggestions or words of encouragement?

One thing you will never be at a loss for here is ideas and encouragement.

The first thing I would do is call my OB and get in ASAP. They will probably do another pee or blood test. Then the doctor will want you to start charting your daily body temps to help see if/when you ovulate. OH -- and your doctor may give you a drug called Provera to get your period started. My doctor noticed I wasn't ovulating well, so she put me on clomid to stimulate ovulation and referred me to a reproductive endocronologist (fertility doctor) for help. We'll see in a few days if it worked this month.

I have heard that weight can play a role in TTC (trying to conceive) and I'm sure that your doctor can help you address that as well as how to keep a pregnancy healthy.

I sure hope you come back and talk to us more and let us know how you are doing.

Keep your chin up!!

I agree with everything DCnanny said.

If you are indeed not pg, then I bet your doc will put you on provera to get you to have one and start a new cycle. You are absolutely right, many overweight women (including myself) have gone on to have healthy pregnancies.

I totally agree and would make an appt with your dr! If you've got irregular periods, then you'll want to find out what's happening quickly so you can figure out your next plan of attack to get yourself pg with your next baby!

Hello and
to our board, you're in the right place for people who are TTC! Because we all are!!

Weight can cause problems with regularity of periods, it can also be a symptom of a medical condition wich causes problems with fertility and regularity of periods.

Like the other ladies have said, it's important that you get some professional guidance, as you're no-doubt finding out it's not good when you're TTCing to have such irregular periods. Your OBGYN should be able to run some basic tests reassure you about why you haven't had your period and come up with a plan of action!

I'm no Dr, but I've been TTC for almost 10 years and 8 of them have been spent on the TTC boards here, and I think I have an idea what the cause might be. But get yourself off to the professionals, and get some answers.

Wishing you lots of luck
please keep us posted.
