Default when to test?

So today my period was due but it has yet to come. I am just worried about testing and being let down. I have symptoms such as sensitive and a somewhat burning sensation in my breasts. My sense of smell is higher than usual. Feeling bloated, and agitation plus mood swings for a few wks now. So I'm asking when is the right time to test?

With my first, I was also having period-like symptoms but no period. If I had tested that day I think it would have been positive, but I waited until I could do it with hubby since I was on visting family without him.

If you're cycle is pretty regular, I'd say go for it! Good luck!
