infertility blood tests

Hi! I am Hillary. I am married for 2 years. Me and my husband are trying to conceive. Nothing is happening and I want to do something about it. I am going for the infertility blood tests in a few days. Can you tell me what does this tests includes?

A fertility blood test is used to measure your hormone levels and is usually the first fertility test that your doctor will prescribe if you are finding it difficult to conceive and suspect that you may be infertile. Blood test results are primarily used to detect hormonal causes of infertility. The blood test is taken at the start of your menstrual cycle. Several blood tests are available to determine if you, your partner, or both of you have a problem that is causing infertility. Some of them are FSH, estradiol, luteinizing hormone level, serum progesterone, prolactin and androgen.

It is a relatively easy way of identifying why it is taking you some time to get pregnant. In some cases this may be enough to pinpoint the root of the problem. Blood tests are often performed alongside a semen analysis which allows your doctor to find out whether the problem is due to male or female-related fertility problems. It's always best for both partners to visit the doctor as fertility problems can affect a man or a woman, or sometimes both. I wish you luck with that tests.

Trying to conceive can be an emotional process. It's important to support each other as much as possible. Stress is just one factor that can affect fertility. It's good that you decided to go on tests. I hope your husband is going too.

Yes, my husband is going with me. He was against it at the first time. I convinced him that is for the best to go immediately. We must now what is wrong as soon as possible. I don't know do we need some preparation before tests.
