Default Trying to conceive for over a year and a half!

Hello. I am 32 and my husband and I have been trying to conceive for just over a year and half now! I am getting depressed since everyone I know is pregnant or has children but me. WTH?
Prior to TTC, I was on the pill for years. I have roughly a 21-22 day cycle (never miss or late) but I think I ovulate late. I have just started to track my O with test sticks and looks like I'm at less than 10 days before the start of the next AF. I havne't read many stories with women having my short cycle and LPD. I'm going to start with some B6 to see if that helps my O. Anyone know anything on this?

Thanks,

Shelley

Hi and welcome!

I have a very very short LP. It's time to get yourself to the fertility specialist, in my opinion. You'll likely get progesterone supplements or supplemental hcg shots to give yourself, among other things.

Welcome Shelley! I'm in a similar situation, also 32 and TTC for 1yr. I too was on the pill for about 14 yr but had no idea what my cycles would do once I came off the pill. The 1st few months were 24-32 days, now the past 3 mo have been 28 so I feel like my body is finally adjusting to life with no pill. I have found doing BBT & OPK ( I use clearblue easy digital with the smiley face) really helps me track what my body is doing...since I've only done this combo the past 2 mo I am really hoping it wont take too much longer for things to happen. I figured I would wait another few months yet before going back to see my doc. Just wanted to say hello & welcome you to this very helpful board !

HCG is a hormone that makes your LP last longer.

Many times, they treat LPD with clomid, trying to fix the cycle from the "front end" as my RE put it. She said that most people who have a short LP are not ovulating properly. The clomid wasn't enough to support my LP so I do supplemental hcg.

My advice-- get to a fertility specialist. Call your ob and ask for a referral if you need one. A regular ob isn't going to have the specialization that an RE/fertility doctor will.
Good luck!
