First of all what you are feeling is normal. I have been
TTC for almost 5 years and I had those same questions. When I first went to the doctor, he asked me what we had tried, which was just BD without proctection. So then he did some bloodwork and a sonogram. That confirmed that I had
PCOS. So he prescribed metformin to help with the cyst on my ovaries and encouraged me to loose weight. I lost 40 lbs and took the medicine. When that did not do anything for three months he upped the dosage. Then I had to move (which by the way I am from Louisiana) to Texas. I found out that through my company that my insurance covers infertility. So I went to a
RE (reproductive endocronologist). He looked at my medical history and the fact that I had
PCOS.
First He ran a bunch of blood test. Like tons. to make sure I was healthy.
Then he did a uterus biopsy, which showed that I had polyps. So I had to have surgery to remove those.
Then he did a fluid test and a dye test. This just helped him to make sure my uterus and tubes were not blocked. During all this, my husband's sperm count was perfect and all the other stuff. The doctor will definitely want to check that.
If it is low, I am not sure what they do, but look for male factor infertility.
All this took about 6 months. Then I took Provera to bring on a heavy period to shed my lining and then he started me on Clomid. I have been doing clomid and Provera for 3 months and we have finally decided to go ahead with
IVF. because I am not responding to the Clomid. We could have done this other medicine called Letrozole but I am tired. I have been doing this long enough so we are going straight to it.
I am sorry for the long post but I wanted to answer your question. However, from what I gather, doctors. are similiar and also different. Everyone on here basically is doing the same thing but sometimes their doctor might do something a little more that others dr.
