Question BFP! When do you tell who???

Hey everyone! As I just posted, I have confirmed my BFP
So now the hard part, *not* telling the whole world!

I would love to hear your thoughts on when to tell who. Is this still the right forum for me to post this type of question?

I know it's a personal judgement call, but others might have thoughts on the subject we have not considered yet.

We are probably going to tell our families this weekend (with it being Father's Day and all!) and *maybe* our closest friends (or at least me to a couple of girlfriends who know we are TTC).

As far as everyone else, I'm not sure if we can hide it all summer long with all of the parties and get-togethers we go to - but we feel we should at least wait until my first doctor's appointment.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this approach!

Thanks again to everyone for their support. You are wonderful

We don't tell anyone anymore. We used to tell everyone at the beginning--but after 5 first-trimester miscarriages, we plan to wait until after we see a heartbeat to spread any news.

You should do whatever you feel is right. Tell whomever you like and share whenever is right for you.

Congratulations again! Hop on over to the due date boards and you'll find ladies who are due around the same time as you.

Congratulations on being blessed!!

I think the days of waiting until 12 weeks have passed have gone. With earlier testing and a change in attitude it's now a lot more acceptable to tell people.

I agree with Deanna, tell people your lovely news when you feel ready.

I think you should tell the people who you love and would want to be there for you. As someone who ttc'ed over a year the first time, I was very leary of telling my news to everyone... but I decided that i wanted to enjoy every single moment of being pregnant like it was my last day. I also realized that even if, God forbid, something happened, those same people I told in the beginning would be those same people I'd need beside me supporting me. So either way, they would have been told.
Other regular people, I think I told after my first u/s. I didn't tell my students at school until I was past my first trimester.
