Bugs me so much. MIL went out of town or something...completely blew off Matthew's birthday. No card, no phone call, nothing. I didn't really think too much about it, but
DH definitely noticed that his mother didn't do anything.
So, Monday, I get a call from GrandFIL, who she lives with - he is 91 - and said that she was in a car accident on Sunday night when she drove back home and that she crushed her spine and she was in the hospital.
OK, this was all true, but I got her on her cell easily enough. She did have the accident, said she was run off the road by someone who did not stop, and was spending the night with her cousin, who convinced her to go to the ER the next day...Monday. I gotta lot of opinions here. MIL is a terrible driver and every time I have gotten in a car with her I was freaked out. There was one time where
DH stopped her and told her to change places with him so HE could drive! I am not so sure she was "run off the road" but that would be wrong of me to assume that. Anyways, on to the lie. Then MIL proceeds to tell me that this is why she wasn't able to do anything about Matt's birthday, because of the accident. What? Matt's birthday was the Friday before! Oh, I hate it when she does this! She has no qualms about lying to people!! She could have just said that she forgot and that would have been FINE. MY dad forgot and I am not bent over it.
She is in a lot of pain and they are giving her morphine?
DH said that she complained that they weren't giving her enough, but he also said that she was immune to it from stealing it all these years.

Well, she had the surgery today and the hospital called me to let me know she was fine and did I want to talk to her? So I did, and she said she was going home tomorrow. It was just one vertebrae and they cemented it back together. I am glad it is not serious. I guess I will get the kids to draw her some pictures?
