My DH just called to tell me that the owner of the golf course he works at was outside (his yard is wooded and in northern MI) this weekend with his dogs (2 toy yorkies if i remember correctly) close by him and a hawk swooped down and grabbed the dog and flew off with it

I am shocked, he said this is the second time this summer that they have had an incounter with hawks but this is the first time they were able to fly off with the dog.

But you made me remember something. I put out our Halloween stuff this past weekended. I posted pictures of the Barred owl that is living in our trees. Later yesterday as I was on the porch I saw him swooping down at the scarecrow like he was going to attack it.

about that as bad as that sounds.

We have coyotes around here (as well as hawks etc) and I just laugh at the people who think their cats are safe to roam around.

Not that one expects a hawk to swoop in on some prey standing next to a human.....
