I can understand why the pest control man won't board up holes...thats not what they do. Your building should have maintenance people to do that sort of thing.

I'd have no problem killing him - in a humane way. A snap trap is humane. Sticky traps are evil. If the animal doesn't tear his foot off trying to get loose, he either suffocates by putting his nose on the trap to try to get his feet off, or else he starves to death.

I don't like the idea of an animal suffering either.. but if it's a choice between my children's health(mouse drioppings in their toy box or wherever and then kid puts it in their mouth) and killing the mouse/shrew whatever on a stickie cardboard I'm using the cardboard.. Maybe the shrew dies of a quick heart attack and doesn't actually suffer.. we don't know that unless the cause of death is investigated right??

so technically it could be a humane way to die.

Quote by 2BabyGirls from other thread...D-con makes a mouse trap called the "blackhole" or "blackbox" that works & kills them instantly.

I bought some of these today, I think. I got the ones that the shrew will have to go into and then it closes so I don't have to see it or touch it. It just has an indicator to tell me when a mouse is caught and then I throw it away.

The shrew was out again this morning when I got up for my dentist appt. But this time he didn't hang around while I had the light on. DH heard it after I left. I guess the dog was sitting on the edge of the bed growling and barking at it, LOL.

It's dead...I think. The trap went off earlier this evening, so I'm assuming it's gone. Still haven't found any holes yet though. I'm guessing those are under the water heater and I can't see under the pan that's underneath that.
