Angry Update on the Shrew

So it looks like the pest control people will only put out traps to catch unwanted critters (i.e. mice, shrews, roaches, etc.) They do not, however, close up potential holes where these critters are coming in through.

When the guy got here today, I told him that I had put out food, but the shrew hadn't been back, so I don't think it's around anymore. I asked him about covering up the holes and he said he doesn't do that.

All he did was look to see if he could find the shrew anywhere (inside and outside) and then he put down one of those sticky traps.

Even after I told him I did not want it killed.

After he left, I threw the trap away. I would rather wait and see if it comes back and catch it myself and release it. At least that way I'll know it's not being killed in such a cruel and inhumane way.

He may drive me absolutely crazy sometimes,
But, he'll always be my best friend,
And the love of my life.

uhhh, releasing any animal in unfamiliar terratory is pretty cruel and probably a death sentence. I see nothing wrong with killing a varmint that has invaded my home.

go around the house/unit and check for any possible holes yourself (don't wait for the landlord).
take a big wad of steel wool and stuff as much as you possibly can into any teeny tiny hole you can find.

If the shrew has been there once, he'll be back (or another will find its way)

I'd have no problem killing him either.

Yeah.... once they're in my home, I don't have a problem killing them... 'cause they WILL come back & it's not safe for the kids. As long as it's done in a humane way, I'm okay with it.

I'd look around for where the shrew is coming in myself.... you'll probably do a more thorough job checking & patching anyways!!
